Aaron nodded. He finished the dishes and went to his room. He stared
at the ceiling before finally falling into a restless sleep. A knock on the
door in the morning woke him. Ice poked his head in.
“Blade’s leaving in half an hour. Are you going with him?”
Aaron hesitated before nodding. “Yeah. I’ll go.” He dressed and
threw some clothes into a suitcase before rushing out to slide into Blade’s
car.
Neither one of them spoke as Blade drove to the airport. They got
onto the plane. Aaron spent the flight staring out the window. Blade’s
proximity was disturbing. Knowing that he would be alone with the vampire for
two weeks meant that Aaron would have to confront his attraction to him.
The taxi dropped them off at their hotel. Blade touched his arm.
“I’m going to check in. Do you want to relax in the room for the rest of the
day?”
“Sure. That’s fine.” Aaron replied distractedly.
“Okay. I have to meet with the local vampires tonight. I’m not sure
what time I’ll be in.”
“Fine.” Aaron went up the room and unpacked. He stretched out on the
bed and fell asleep.
