Chapter 62

Blade stretched as he stood up from the computer. He was pleased with the arrangements he had made for his upcoming vacation to China. He only hoped Onyx found the arrangements suitable. In some ways, Blade was very much an outsider to the dynamics of the group and one thing he had noticed was the Onyx was very subservient to Aaron and to a lesser degree Ice. The two of them treated Onyx as an indentured servant, one that had no hope of ever paying of his debt.

Onyx was the one who cleaned the house and took care of the children while Aaron mucked about in the garden with his nectar making and Ice spent hours writing on the computer. Blade had resumed his medical career which gave him an excuse for not doing enough to assist Onyx with the children. It bothered Blade that the others were unwilling to pitch in, especially since the bulk of the children were Ice’s.

This trip was to give Onyx a break from his duties it was also a chance for Blade to get to know Onyx. The original idea had been that the four of them would have sex with each other. In the past year, Blade had never had an opportunity to be alone with Onyx and the few times he had tried, Onyx had been too tired to do anything but sleep. As far as he could tell, neither Ice nor Aaron had been intimate with Onyx since Ice had returned. Blade knew from his discussions with Ice that the other vampire was uncomfortable about asking Onyx for sex. Snow had compelled Ice to rape Onyx and Ice felt guilty because he had not been strong enough to resist her compulsion.

Blade smiled to himself as he entered Onyx’s room and began packing a suitcase. He picked up the suitcase as well as his own bag.

Ice looked up at him when he entered the living room. “You’re all packed?”

“Yes. Let’s go get him.”

Ice and Blade drove separate cars to the park where Onyx had taken the children to play. They parked and walked over to where Onyx was relaxing on a nearby bench.

“What are you two doing here?” Onyx asked surprised to see them.

“I am here to watch the children while you go off with Blade,” Ice replied.

“You?” Onyx inquired skeptically, “Since when are you interested in watching the children?”

Ice visibly winced. “Since Blade read me the riot act about how Aaron and I have been treating you. I’m sorry, I’ve been a smeghead. I hope you can forgive me.”

“Where exactly is Blade taking me?” Onyx demanded.

“That is for me to know and you to find out,” Blade said mysteriously. “Now come on, we’ve got to hurry.” He grabbed Onyx’s arm and physically dragged him to the car.  He shoved the human into the car and slid across the hood of the car to reach the driver’s side. A brief flick of power prevented Onyx from opening the doors and escaping. Onyx sat fuming as Blade guided the car through traffic to the airport.
