Chapter 115

“Nice abs,” a voice commented from above. Matt opened his eyes to see a teenage boy staring down at him. He flushed and hastily sat up to minimize the amount of flesh the boy could see. He couldn’t believe he’d fallen asleep and been discovered by some boy. The boy grinned amused and pushed a lock of dark purple hair out of his face. His skin was the color of midnight. This boy was obviously mixed and presumably one of Aaron’s children.
“Shouldn’t you be in school?” Matt asked finally finding his voice.
“It’s Saturday.” He rolled his eyes.
“Oh. Um, well, I should be getting home then.” Matt looked around for his clothing and dressed hurriedly. “It was nice meeting you, um,…”
“Brandon. Brandon King. Don’t I know you?”
“Matthew Renfrews.” Matt reluctantly introduced himself.
“Oh! Uncle Matt. Dad’s mentioned you a few times. What are you doing here?”
Matt felt his face heat. He wasn’t going to explain to his nephew that he’d been having sex with the boy’s father. “I was talking to Ice.”
“Right. Talking.” The boy laughed. It obvious that he knew that Matt hadn’t been just talking to Ice. “I hope you had a good ‘talk’. It was nice to meet you, Uncle Matt.”
The boy got up and walked Matt to his car.
Matt drove home. He was confused about what had happened. He firmly resolved that he would not be alone with Aaron or Aaron’s friends again. That seemed the best way to avoid compromising situations. He couldn’t afford to be outed as a herm.
Ariel immediately apologized when he walked in. She begged him to attend marriage counseling with her. He agreed to do so out of guilt. The sessions helped them communicate better, but he still didn’t tell her about his illicit affair with her brother. Aaron kept his distance. Matt was relieved. The year came to a close and Aaron’s quadruplets graduated from high school and moved out. There were no permanent repercussions from his brief fling with men.
